Anyone have any clue how to sculpt rivets, so they all come out even?

Like the kind you see on steel beams?

I used pin heads - they worked well for me as I left about 2-3mm of the pin shaft to use for, well, pinning. I then drilled into the sculpt where I wanted the rivet to be, insert pin & hey presto. Though this method only really works if your rivets are that scale.

Another method if using super sculpey or similar, is to put a blob of sculpey on a baked base model, then use plastic/metal tubing (with the inside diameter the size you want the rivet to be) & punch into the clay, using it like a cookie cutter. Then use alcohol/turps to smooth out the head of the rivet.

I know at my local hobby shop, they sell copper hollow tubes and some are shaped like them. Can sorta grind them down to the size, glue then in and fill in the hollow part with putty/aves.

Ah good question, Jesse. I wondered how to do these when I was making Jocasta...

I just got back form Micheal's where one of the employees (who will soon be a member of Garage Kits) showed me a way to cheat with rivets ...

You can use this technique by Muffinman. Hope it helps.
