Off ebay transaction

I recieved an offer from someone who listed something on ebay but it did not sell and knew I was interested based on prior contact about the item. However he is offering to sell it to me to avoid relisting fees at the opening bid he was asking for and accepts paypal. His feedback is very good but not sure what to do. Anyone ever have experience with this type of transaction? Is it ok if I use paypal so I can file a claim if I do not recieve?

As long as the payment goes through paypal drawning from a credit card and he seems legit, it should be alright.

I've done numerous off-Ebay transactions (screw 'em) but most of the time I have been the Seller. Don't really like being on the other end.

Are there any risks for the seller in an off ebay transaction? I have an opportunity for one but I want to make it safe for both parties.
