Not really, I haven't been to one yet that wasn't chaos. People grabbing multiple copies, free comics scattered here and there, good one's being squirreled away for preferred customers, stores crowded w/ non comic readers who, upon seeing a sign on the door, come barreling in for their hand-out.
I'm selfish, I already know comics are good, keep these newbies out of the way.

My store usually has plenty of free books to last a couple days so I don't worry about being there that day.

The colorist Tom Smith is a regular at my store so he usually does a signing there every year.

We usually have a big ole time at our shop. We put on gaming demos, have lots of local writers and artist, and of course the free comic books. It is fun to see new people come into the shop and nice to see people we have not seen in a while. At the end of the day we finish off with a cookout.

Needless to say fun is had by all.

CAPE is the biggest Free Comic Book Day event in the country, I believe. It's a free mini-convention, with tons of artists, writers, and other comiic-related personalities turning up. Each year is bigger than the last, and it's a great way to spend FCBD. They usually have a costume contest, and other giveaways, so it's a huge deal.

Jim and I will be there with bells on! More art for my sketchbook! Bwahaha.

My LCS will not be holding free comic book day this year. But, will have the freebies available to the regulars.
