Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Comparing her to another female performer from the same SNL era, Cheri OTeri had a similar style--manic and weird, but she was funny. Molly Shannon was just manic and weird. I can't think of one character she did that I liked. (She wasn't a bad support player, though.)
