When you get older, that advantage is not only gymnastics but just walking down the street.
Of course, I'm talking from experience here!

Thats where the funding comes in, the USA is the richest country in the world, I would expect them to win the most medals at this time.

What?
They dont rank by the total medals they rank by gold, check out http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/EN...L0000000.shtml
China 39 gold
USA 22 Gold (8 to Phelps!)
Great Britian 12
Australia 11
Germany 9
Thats the current top 5
Also do you think the Olympics is just about Track & Field and Basketball?

You need full time athletes, good facilities, good coaching, and a good pool of talent to draw from.
Its not just about money or population, but racial/physiological factors come into it - all the sprinters are black, all the swimmers are white. Thats why china, with all the population and all the funding, cant hoover everything across the board, there is still room for natural talent from a poor country, like the Jamaican 100m sprinter.

I agree mate, funding also plays a big part
And when it comes to India if it isn’t Cricket then the overwhelming majority of the population simply doesn’t care much about it. They are obsessed with the game

sorry justin, it's total medals that wins the olympics. only time gold plays a part is if there's a tie in the total amount. then the most gold medals wins.
