he was in the recent superman vs doomsday aminated film and hes in smallville, im not his biggest fan but he is in the spotlight outside the comics at the moment

I understand what your trying to say Steve, but Doomsday was a character only created for a dramatical effect in that period of time when DC needed a spark with the Superman franchise.
