I agree that casting has been pretty good so far, but my problem is that in seeing which characters are being cast, it's starting to feel like more of the same. I was hoping for a Superman movie that didn't have origin elements in it, but here we are with Jor-El being cast and now Lara as well. I don't mind Luthor as much, as long as his role is more of a supporting villain. The best thing would be to introduce the character but not really as a villain yet, save that for the next film. Zod was only used as the villain in S2, and everyone pretty much agrees he's been the best villain so far, so I'm ok with that. Ma and Pa Kent are ok, as long as they're only around for a scene or two and not part of his origin, but more of their relationship with adult Clark. If they do plan on telling yet another origin story, at least make it only a half origin. What I mean is don't go all the way back and tell about Krypton's destruction, and baby Kal-El arriving here etc. etc. Use both sets of parents only while he's an adult, in sort of a Smallville fashion, and at that point make references to his origin.
Anyway, these are my nitpicks, without really knowing much about the movie. I really do hope they explore new territory, and don't just go completely back to remaking the Donner films. The characters being cast don't give me much hope of that, but I will try to remain optimistic.
