Ok, let's just get this out of the way. Everyone watch closely at Jango Fett's jetpack as it malfunctions when he tries to fly away to evade Mace Windu.. People like to use Jango's death as "proof" and they somehow manage not to see or acknowledge what wasnt meant to go unnoticed.

It only lasts a few panels, then Boba Fett tries to stop Han Solo from escaping and then Vader hits him with force push.

He's not trying to get away using the Jetpack. When Mace cuts off Jango's hand, he hits the controls to the Jetpack at the same time causing it to start to fire. Plus the Jetpack was already screwed up from getting run over by the retarded Rhino thingy.

Listen to the commentary on the DVD. George Lucas says that Jango tried to fly away and his jetpack malfunctioned but they had to add more sparks for the DVD release so it would be more noticable. Mace cut his gun, not his hand. His hand is still there.

Lucas say's a lot of this and with his obsessiveness with post production, it's hardly worthy forming any sort of concrete opinion any more.

i always wondered why they didn't just make shields out of lightsabers, they seem to be very effective

Probobly cause they'd just end up cutting off their own limbs.
