Ready Player One?
Anyone else read this? I just finished, and I wanted to like it a lot more than I did. I loved the detail work--all the lovely game-geekery. But the plot was SO bad.

I did. I enjoyed it. It was easy to get lost in the geekery, but I took it for what it was. It's far more enjoyable in audiobook format. Will Wheaton reads it, and its great fun to hear him read about himself.

That'd be cool. Yeah, I enjoyed it too. It wrapped up so fast, though...I sort of wanted more in terms of character and plot. But still a must-read for the geeks among us.

I read it earlier this year, and thinking back on it, it was a fun read, but it went by way too quickly, and I didn't really like how the author wrapped it up. I understand it was going to happen, but it kind of felt like a Stephen King book to me... All this glorious detail about the world and such and then boom, time to end it.

Yeah, it wrapped up way too fast for me, too. Even the final key-thing went too fast--the detail during that section just wasn't rife with the adoring detail of the first two.
I liked the book a lot, and I feel bad about complaining...but as a writer, this is definitely an example of a concept selling itself, and not the writing earning it.
