I agree totally. Wolverine and DP have totally different climates. I think the frequent humor is what balances out all the gore, foul language, skin/soft porn of DP. A wolverine movie following this format would have a much heavier perception among the public in general IMO because it would be void of most the humor, which is what most people are grabbing on to with DP. That doesn't mean a R wolverine would be a bad movie obviously. It would just mean more violence, foulness, or such (to your point) which doesn't necessarily make for a better movie. It will need a really good story and visuals to be successful in the same style.
Having said that, though, I'm totally down for a cameo by one or the other just to see the conflict of personalities between these two in this environment. I think it would be fantastic...Hopefully.

Dayum...DEADPOOL is #1 again for the 3rd week in a row with $31.5 million for this past weekend.
With a domestic total of $285.6 million, the irreverent anti-hero now has the third-biggest R-rated movie, with only AMERICAN SNIPER ($350 million) and THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST ($370 million) ahead of him.
DEADPOOL has passed the domestic totals of his fellow Marvel Comics characters CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER ($259 million) and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN ($262 million), and has also crossed $600 million worldwide.

I am honestly so happy this is making so much money but I fear that now studios are going to just start spitting out R rated super hero movies like no one's business. A sentiment I know a lot of you share.

I share it. I don't want R rated Captain America, Spiderman or Superman movies.

I would take an R rated Black Widow movie with a lot of Scatlet nudity!

I hope not as well. I truly believe that Deadpool is the exception and not the rule for R rated superhero films success. I remain quasi optimistic that the studios will protect their IP's because of the side revenue streams (toys), that an R rating would preclude them from.
The only studio that I see a potential swing to R is Fox, as they don't care about Disney making money on toys. WB may also do it with their Vertigo line.
