Sandman (Neil Gaiman)
Quote:
Badass Digest reports that the screenwriter has pitched a Sandman adaptation to Warner Bros, with the studio “very receptive” to his ideas.
The comic book focuses upon a character named Morpheus, who represents the personification of dreams. Having been held captive by a cult for some 70 years, he finally returns to his dream kingdom, only to find it in a state of disarray…

This will be difficult to translate to film and do it justice. I personally think the material would be better served as a cable series.

The Sandman was a hard enough read in comics. This will completely bomb in theatres. Other than a few issues here and there, I found this to be among the most boring, self indulgent, and pretentious titles ever written.

Wow! I couldn't disagree more. I binge read the bulk of the material via TPB in college and absolutely loved it. Couldn't put it down once I started. Different from anything I'd read before it and brutally dark.
As far as it working as a film? I have my doubts too. I always thought this would work best as an cable television series.

It's interesting that you feel that way as I loved Moore's Swamp Thing yet there are fans who feel the same way I do about Sandman for Moore's Swamp Thing.
In general, I'm not a horror comics-movies fan.
