Orange candle light skin tone.
I'm really excited to see what that looks like.

Just like all other companies out there. 5 layers of airbrush work in their 'look how we make this'. Should be lucky if factory uses one layer of airbrush without dust and hairs.
Companies should make/send their actual paint sample + a videolog towards factory, which painting steps factory should follow (minimal this and that). So products are really close to what is promoted and sold.
Bit ridiculous if you think about the whole 'fat worm lure' principle used.

That's the impression i get. Sideshow add many layers of paint only for the factory to mix up a paint color that matches the final result of the prototype, over which they sometimes add some airbrush shading.

They do send their paint sample. Sideshow & most companies make 2 paint sample twins at the same time which have been noticeable in other Kat videos.
See how she has 2 body & base sets here?

As far as process, factories start with what they are willing to do for the price. Producers can request changes but factories won't invest much more time than they did initially.

The proto painted by SSC is just for show. That's their artist's concept and intention. That's what the collectors think they are getting when they PO the statue.
The factory, on the other hand, has their own interpretation and method to reproduce the paint application on the proto which may or may not be the same as the original artist's concept and intention.
Hence, the discrepancy in paint quality between the proto and production piece. That's why it is important to see in-hand photos of statues in order to judge the actual paint quality.
We are taking a chance on the manufacturers when we PO statues solely based on photos of proto.

This Resident Evil statue released in 2000 by Palisades was my first lesson on how different a figure from the factory can look from the prototype.
Yes, I can still recall the disappointment 20+ years later. :P

Man, I'd like to think most of the factories are better than that nowadays. Especially after 20+ years.
