Population might play a part in it. But i've heard from the TV announcer commented about they know many gold medals are up for grabs, so the Chinese just trained their athletes for it. Simple as that.

no, they have more golds because they start training them at about the age of 2 like slaves that anywhere else in the world would not be considered acceptable

I thought this was quite funny from the ladies 100m final: a false satrt claim from the US: from one of their own team!
Quote:
Jamaica’s big win turned into a giant disappointment for the United States. Lauryn Williams finished fourth, Muna Lee fifth and Torri Edwards last. Lee, the only one of that U.S. trio with another chance for an individual medal — in the 200 — said she thought there was a false start.
Edwards herself said she thought she had false-started. The American team filed a protest, though it was swiftly rejected.
“It was a flagrant and a blatant false start that was not recalled and had tremendous impact on the race,” said Lee’s coach, Vince Anderson, just before the rejection. “But they’re not going to rerun the Olympic 100. Anyone who knows anything knows that.”

African countries always do weel in Track. A combo of things I imagine:
because they run barefoot in their homeland - I remember the big deal when Zola budd ran barefoot at the olympics.
The climate is very hot over there so they can run for long distances and be used to it
Most have no option but to walk
It is a fact that people of african origin seem to be better built for sport/better physique(dunno if that's the right term)
bsically, every country has it's national sport, sport that they are best at -most of Africa's is running. Just look at any marathon
Just look at baseball, american footbal, basketball...
