If these are the same price as CM pieces it will make a mockery of CM.

could that be the plan?
make another collectable company totally redundant
toy domination of the world is ssc plan.

Many things need to happen before these can make the CMs redundant. Good QC being at the top of the list. I'll take CM QC over Sideshow's any day of the week.
It will be interesting to follow the LSF line. I can see the same people that were unhappy with Rogue nitpick these to death with even more self entitlement because they payed over 2K. The complaining will be "legendary".

it's finally here
I am both stoked and apprehensive!
On the bright side, open ES gives me a lot of time to buy one comfortably and a lot more people can get one but if it's really limited, expect a feeding frenzy!!
I hope the price is manageable and the issues fixed.
Guess we'll all have to wait and see.

CMs non humans are not in question nor is their QC but then they only produce one piece a year. And their human lioness is not good or at least not consistent. There is an Aragorn CM at the local FP and the likeness is very poor.

Definitely getting Maul..
There are very few characters I'd get in this format.. the scale would have to represent my absolute favourites.. Darth Maul is 1 of them..
I can see myself liking maybe 1 in 5, in the last SDCC lot/batch - Maul was my pick.
Came close to the PF on 1 or 2 occasions, but he never looked 'menacing' enough to me.. tho that custom cloak ppl got rly helped with that look
but this is the definitive darth maul for me - I just hope they've addressed those issues people pointed out at SDCC.. As much as I want them to have, I am not completely hopeful - though they're introducing a "new scale", so they'll want to impress. Supposedly using a special factory as well.
If my maul turns out bad, I will never be touching the scale again
no -- I expect more than just not being 'bad' - it has to hold awesome presence

I agree on the Aragorn. However, the CM Superman likeness has been pretty consistent for the 200 or so units floating around out there. They have gotten better in consistency.
The whole LSF thing will be interesting to follow. Even at $2,000+, I read many posts here talking about how they will get this piece and that piece at 1:2 scale. We are all familiar on how people perceive value in the CM threads as people do math of how many PFs they can get instead of one CM. We all have seen the complaining over the Hot Toys price increases as many feel priced out of the 12" hobby.
Get ready for a bumpy ride...

These things will cost a heap in shipping too, won't be practical to send across the country.. Sideshow and some etailers can give great discounts on shipping, but re-selling on the secondary market is a different story -- ure going to want to pick ones you can definitely see yourself keeping
