I think he should pull an Ottley... and set it on fire in front of his house.

... I wouldn't have sent the art back, for the record.. I usually try and be the "better man", but no way in this case; the deal was done.
You're a good man, Rich.

I just don't want the artist being affected by it. Honestly, what's done is done. I'm not even mad. Everyone's has their own POV and their own stake. Maybe this buyer was really important to the agent. I don't know the whole story myself. Is it fair? Probably not. But life rarely is. I'm happy with the compensation. Yeah the whale was a jerk to push so hard for it, but who knows? Maybe in his shoes, I'd have done the same. I'm gonna chalk the whole thing off to poor communication from all parties and will let this pass. I do appreciate the support from all you guys. This is all I want to say about this matter, and hopefully, the next time I post it will be a beautiful piece of art from Tony. Thanks again everyone.

Can't wait to see what Tony does for you - I am sure it will not disappoint.

I applaud you for giving the page back. The artist is actually in a no-win situation. He either disappoints his fan or creates a rift with his rep. The fact is that Albert has done very well in getting Tony top dollar for his art. Tony benefits from this relationship. By being a bigger man, you made life easier for Tony and I know he'll do well in returning the favor. In the end, you will have money, art, and friendship. You did fine.

Is it possible Rich represents his own competition? I'm sure Moy is fielding dozens of emails and requests daily. Maybe a miscommunication? Has been known to happen.

Sorry to read about this situation but I think you made the right call in allowing Tony "off the hook" and preserving your relationship with the artist (and the artist's relationship with his dealer) whom I'm confident will do the right thing by you!
