Favorite size for collections
How important is scale to everyone here and why?
I am planning on doing some new statue sculpting. These will be for me, myself and I only because they will be unlicensed characters That I either cannot find, do not exist or the examples that do exist are not to my liking. I tend to sculpt in two sizes; 8 ½" and 11 ½" roughly, depending on the character height. The next figure I want to sculpt about 18-20"...I currently have limited space though. I've never owned any statues, just action figures and one 12' vinyl terminator.
MY QUESTION to the COLLECTORS is this:What general sizes do you prefer and why? Or do you like a mixture of scales as long as the figure is cool?
We'll assume that each figure of a particular scale is in correct height relative to the collection. Without getting into specific scale issues let's assume most scale figures are around the general heights of; 6", 9", 12" and 18"
Thanks

I like the bigger stuff (say 1/4 scale) but space is REALLY a problem with any collection of statues that size. Also cost goes up.
I have no problem with the Bowen/ARH standard scale whatever that was. It is big enough for detail but small enough that you don't need a gymnasium to display a decent collection.

Do you know in inches what size the figures are?

Around 12 inches or so, like a Kotobukiya vinyl statue. Anything smaller could fall into the "squint" category, anything larger starts to get into the "Jesus Christ man you're a nerd! how much did you spend on this crap?!" category.

I rarely care about scale - the way a statue looks is more important to me...
THAT and the subject matter...

As long as it is comic accurate and I can actually afford it, not concerned about size at all. If I had some cash, I would be getting the Hulk statue that '50 has in his house. Man oh man would I love to have the statue.

I kinda go by who produces the item. I have 1:1 items by Master Replicas/Sideshow and I have mini busts and statues from GG which I believe are 1/6th and I have the Iron Man Maquette which is 1/4. It's all about what you like, what looks good, and space!

The size thing
So let's say money is not an issue, it's your favorite sculptor and it's your favorite character....They were sculpting this just for you as a gift but wanted to know what size you preferred within reason. Which size would you choose and why?

I prefer 1/6 (up to about 13 inch), cause most cubes are not high enough to cope with 1/4. So space for the larger ones is very limited.
