The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

Anyone ever have Microfracture surgery?

Just had the procedure done today and on crutches for the next 6 weeks...was training for the Vegas marathon later this year but thats out now.

I was reading online that full recovery is about 4-6 months before even starting any kind of training again.

Just curious if anyone else has had it and what their experience was like.....

Do these microfractures develop from running? Like shin splints?

No its actually a procedure where they drill in to the bone to get it to bleed.....once the blood clots it forms new cartilage.

Its kind of like filling in a pot hole according to my ortho....lol

So far so good...no pain or discomfort.

Have to use a passive movement machine 6-8hrs a day. It basically bends my knee at a really slow rate to help with the healing.

the new cartilage is not as strong as the original cartilage. It can break down more easily. But its better then having none at all or a total knee replacement.

Im looking at 6 weeks of no weight bearing on it at all. then a really slow PT schedule. It will probably be somewhere in the neighborhood of 4-6 months before I can fully start to be active with it again.

My wife had to use two of those at the same time when she had double knee replacement.
