Question for kit builders or sculptors.
Does anyone have recommendations on where to find some generic bases to attach some 1/6 scale busts onto? I'd like the series to feel consistent, but to be honest I don't know too much about this stuff.
Nothing TOO flat, but something that can give each bust some presence....but really, anything at this point to help give them all a unified look.
Thanks!

You can try micheals or AC Moore. They have round wooden bases in different diameters and they are cheap. Here's a link of what grayfox117 used for the custom head stands for his street fighter heads. You can get those pieces at micheals or AC Moore.

I've used everything from napkin ring holders, pipe fittings, the lid from a heavy duty flashlight, to picture frames as a base.
Found objects make fantastic bases, every time I go to Pier 1 Imports, Lowe's or Home Depot, I always see something new and grab it and put it in a box for later.

TAPS Plastic is good too. Cost a little more but they let you customize the size and have a wide assortment of colors.

I use 2" x 1 1/2" PVC (or ABS) fitting reducers. Seal one end, smear some vaseline on the inside, a light coat, and fill with a fast setting concrete. I use Quikcrete. Push in a rod or dowel or whatever you want to you to connect to your bust. Once it sets, push it out. Might have to tap on it a bit or cut the fitting off. I think it looks great! You can even snad and smooth or etch with a dremal tool after.
