Nice to see Sly get a nod for Creed. He was amazing in that movie.

Agreed. He won a Golden Globe for Supporting Actor, so the odds could be in his favor.

Every year, I make a goal of seeing every movie nominated in every category. This year, I may make an exception and skip Fifty Shades of Grey. Ugh.

Interesting that the top rated film on Metacritic, Carol (95/100), did not get a nomination for best picture.

Movies like Mad Max don't win Best Picture.... but hot damn would it get my vote! George Miller has a legitimate shot at Director though.

Out of 9 nominations, I'm sure Max will get some recognition for f/x.
Odds on favorite will be The Reverent for Picture and Director --it's groundbreaking and a step UP from Inarritu's Birdman from last year (which he also won).

Amazed Jennifer L got nominated certainly not deserved. Cate B is my pick for Carol (although the movie itself was meh for me) or Olson from Room.

She won a Golden Globe for Best Actress in Joy last week, so her chances are REALLY good to win an Oscar.
