Realistic Blood?
I am working on a zombie sculpt and am needing to know if anyone has any tips for realistic blood. I will be using the blood around the face and trailed in the footsteps of the zombie also. I have tried to make blood before that later turns out to just look like someone took red paint and tipped it over.

Hey Smoked,
I usually do blood the same way everytime I do it. Things get changed up a little here and there depending on the application...but here's what I use:
I start with Citadel Chestnut ink and draw in the blood first. The Chestnut Ink is great because it has that brownish red color of dried blood and also can help define your outer edge for depth. I may, at times, take the Chestnut ink and dip an old toothbrush into it and "spatter" some over an area. With Tamiyas Clear Smoke, I draw in the darkest recesses where blood almost looks black when it is VERY thick. Then I take Tamiya Clear Red (sometimes I add a touch of Clear Tamiya Smoke to darken it depending) and add the fresh blood and take a bit of Tamiya Clear yellow and add the separated puss fluid. Finally, the blood work is top coated with either Testors Clear Top Coat or 5-Minute Epoxy for lots of wet shiney nastiness.
Here are some examples:

Danno, thats great work and thanks for the info. Is there a certain brand of 5 minute epoxy that you use? Just wondering since I have seen some that will turn a yellow color after hardening.

I like to use Devcon, I have not had a problem with this product yellowing....at least not over 5 years or so that I have been using it.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I usually pick it up at the local Hobby Town USA, but most places that sell gaming miniatures will carry Citadel brand paint.
