Making a Detolf airtight?
Anyone try?
Seems to me if there was some clearish plastic like what is used to hold the glass on the back together in the corners, and it was around the door, you could seal it up.
Dust still gets in there otherwise.
Gotta be some kind of clear plastic seal that is designed to fit over the edge of glass somewhere.

I just use foam rubber tape (1/4" x 3/8 ").

Added it to one of my Detolf's and it really eliminates dust infiltration.
Inexpensive and simple to apply. It isn't clear but it really doesn't look bad IMO.

Isn't that part of the fun. I mean we bought statues not just to place it like in a museum. Of course we want them to be safe. Even I prefer wooden base than glass just to be more secure and place it in a very protective display cabinet. But it's always fun to touch it, took care of it and display it from variety of perspectives so they wouldn't look boring. If you have statue just to look then why bother buying. Just stare at them from the internet. That's satisfying enough. Even sideshow got that 3D rotation goin on.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

This is the major reason why I hate Detolf from IKEA. Dust goes in there too easily and fast.
No more Detolf...I guess that's why it's so inexpensive.
