OK, I'm a little bored waiting for a program to compile, so I'll take a stab at this. Barring the permissions issues from the server upgrade...
Posting images as attachments:
- When replying to a thread using the "Quote" button or starting a new thread, scroll down and press the "Manage Attachments" pushbutton.
- A new "Manage Attachements" dialog window should pop-up.
- Press the "Browse" button next to the first empty Filename textfield.
- In the "Browse" dialog window, locate and select the image you wish to upload from your computer, then press the "Open" button. You will be returned to the "Manage Attachements" dialog window. The path to the image file should now be in the textfield.
- Repeat the two previous browsing steps if you are uploading more than one image.
- When you are done selecting images to attach, press the "Upload" button in the lower righthand corner of the "Manage Attachements" dialog window.
- The image(s) will be attached to your post as a clickable thumbnail image(s). Note that the attachments do not show up in the Post Preview, or at least, they did not use to.
- If you use this method, remember to delete large images after a reasonable amount of time in order to keep the SF disk space usage to a minimum.
Posting images with a hyperlink (aka "hot linking"):
- Host your image with a free service, like http://www.photobucket.com. This is left as an exercise for the reader.
- Copy the full URL of the image to post. For example, the Google logo is http://www.google.com/intl/en/images/logo.gif.
- When replying to a thread using the "Quote" button or starting a new thread, click on the "Insert Image" icon . A small dialog window will pop up.
- Paste the copied URL into the pop-up dialog's textfield, and then press the "OK" button to close the dialog window. Alternatively, you can just surround the image's URL with the

[IMG] [/IMG]

tags, when you are typing up your post.
Try it out for yourself over in the
Testing Grounds forum. Hope that helps, and good luck!
P.S. Way to revive an old thread! Nearly two years old
