Unhappy Newbie sculpey-user here! HELP!!!

Hi all,

Can anyone help me?

I am a new to clays.

I just bought Original Sculpey, oven baked clay.
When I opened the package, all I got was 2 blocks of hard clay, I tried to ply one open but they cracked up into a million pieces instead. I still have another whole block intact. What do I do?

Do I use Sculpey Diluent? If so, How much do I use?
Advise anyone? Thank you very much!

A couple drops of Sculpey Diluent should work. I've also used vegetable oil in the past.

first did you get a polymer clay (the kind you bake and it gets hard)?

what is the name of it?

if its regular sculpey and its soft then you better use it pretty soon (within a month).
i recommend wrappin it with plastic wrap and putting it in an air tight container to help prolong the life of it. I use Folgers's large plastic coffee cans.
that goes for anykind of polymer clay!
reason is if you leave it in the box, the paper box wicks away the oils from the clay, thus drying it out.
