Should this be reported to the police?

Well, my friend told me he heard a pop sound one day from his next door neighbor. Next day, the neighbor came over and asked him if everything is okay. My friend was wondering why he would come over and asked that question. So, he thought about last night sound and went outside to his house and found a BULLET hole through his house.

So my friend went over there and told him never do that again or he'll call the police. The neighbor apologized about the incident.

His neighbor could have killed someone in my friend's house. So, should he report it to the police or just let him slide?

What do you he should do?

I know my friend doesn't want any trouble, but I don't think I can live knowing that it can happen again.

Not only would i report it to the police i would file charges, its one thing to biotch about noise or garbage flying over to your lawn. But a wacko shooting a gun in your direction is serious.

What if his neighbor decides to take the gun and go postal on him?

I told him that he needs to report it, but he's afraid of causing tension.

This is tough....

Can he file for record but no charges? Meaning..no policy arrival...just to have it on record?

Maybe your friend should get a bigger gun and make a bigger hole in his neighbors house. he can then apologize and say it will never happen again.
