I actually use....well, ummmmmmmmm.................
spit to feather the Apoxie Sculpt and Fix-it sculpt first, this helps to get things feathered very nice. I just lick my finger and finger feather to where I need things. I love the AVES Safety Solvent, as it changes the Apoxie/Fix-It and makes the clay more stiff. After I feather things with my finger and a tiny bit of spit, then I will use a soft synthetic brush and the safety solvent and brush smooth/refine the surface.

The clay is a part A and part B and you don't mix in anything else (except maybe a drop or two of acrylic paint to add color)
