Whaa?? I'm with ratchet on this. I could not disagree more. He was amazing in Lost In Translation, hilarious in The Life Aquatic and his recent cameo in Zombieland was brilliant. Next up Ghostbusters III. His career is still very much alive.

One of my favorite Bill Murray movies is the 1984 remake of "The Razor's Edge". I actually think he played the role much better than Tyrone Power did in 1946.

Agreed, he was fantastic in that. Made me wish he did more dramatic roles, but hollywood and the public at the time just didn't seem to want that from Murray, so he pretty much stuck to comedy for the next several years, though he eventually started branching out again once the comedy roles started to wane, thankfully.
Another really good, and sadly overlooked, early performance was his turn as Hunter S Thompson in Where The Buffalo Roam. Murray gave a great performance in that one from back in the day.

Opinions vary. I thought The Life Aquatic was appallingly bad, boring and not funny in the slightest. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a Murray hatet. I loved almost all of his earlier work. These days though, he just doesn't do it for me.

I also thought the "Life Aquatic" was horrible as was "Lost in Translation" IMO. But on balance I like a lot of Bill Murray movies, certainly I like a lot more than I dislike.

Purely on recent films DeNiro and Pacino (two of the all time greats) could do with a break at least. Some pretty poor selections in the last number of years.

Lost in Translation was overhyped and dull, Life Aquatic was boring as hell. It took me forever to get through all of Life Aquatic, it was like torture. IMO Bill Murray's last great film was Groundhog Day.

Well we all have different taste. I found Groundhog Day to be repetitive (I know that was the point) and a completely annoying by the numbers comedy.
I don't buy into hype so I went into Lost In Translation with an open mind and enjoyed it. Admittedly that film isn't for everyone though and the same could be said for Life Aquatic which I found completely quirky, quite funny and totally original.
