I've long ago researched my favorites (Magneto, Gladiator, etc.), but realized I never did the same with Wolverine. So I just did.

It appears the answer is 'no'.

Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Roy Thomas asked writer Len Wein to devise a character specifically named Wolverine, who was a Canadian of small stature and with a wolverine's fierce temper. John Romita Sr. designed the first Wolverine costume, and believes he introduced the retractable claws, saying, "When I make a design, I want it to be practical and functional. I thought, 'If a man has claws like that, how does he scratch his nose or tie his shoelaces?'"

None of the three men were born in Michigan nor went to UM.

Greatest respects greatness.

Michigan helmets have the wings and stripes on them. Sometimes 3 stripes. Tell me that’s not another very interesting connection to Wolverine….

Wonder if any Ohio State fans think Wolverine’s brown suit is the superior color because they don’t want blue/yellow in their house
