Cool Maltese Falcon statue sold for 4 Mil!!!!

A little of old news, but important nontheless. Here is a link:

This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I truly believe that the final bid on this auction is well deserved. But what do you think? What would you do with $4 million in hand? Would you buy it?

I wonder how some of these high priced 1940s movies props will do in the long term. If you ask most people under the age of 30 who Humphrey Bogart is, they'll likely have no idea. Then again, all it takes is one bidder.

As good as the movie was, no, I would not spend 4 mil on a statue.

I wouldn't spend $140 million on this painting either.

Very ironic that the bidding was hindered (or heightened) by some minor damage on the piece, according to appraisers. I wonder how much would it have gone for, if in perfect condition? After all, there were only two ever made and this was the only one used in the film.

I guess some people have plenty money to burn. Imagine how many collectibles could I buy with that kind of dough? Shoot!! I'd buy my own statue company.

I think some people think that way about my collection. It's all about perspective.
