Why Stupid People Shouldn't Have Kids

WELLINGTON (Reuters) - A New Zealand couple is looking to call their newborn son Superman -- but only because their chosen name of 4Real has been rejected by the government registry.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton say they will get around the decision by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages by officially naming their son Superman but referring to him as 4Real, the New Zealand Herald newspaper has reported.

The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realising their baby was "for real".

They decided 4Real was the best way to write it, but the name was rejected because the registrar said a name had to be a sequence of characters.

Pat Wheaton said he was considering appealing against the decision through the courts, but whatever happens he won't be budged on his choice.

"No matter what its going to stay 4Real," Wheaton told the Herald, "I'm certainly not a quitter".

A spokesman for the Department of Internal Affairs, which operates the registry told the Herald discussions with the Wheatons about their son's name were continuing.

The baby is now two months old, after the Wheatons first applied to register his name in later June.

You gotta be kidding me!
I guess the parents just want publicity not even thinking what their kid will have to go through in school

And I thought my wife's cousin naming her son "Gage Malachi" after characters from Stephen King novels was bad.

We had a staff member on our 3rd shift that surprised me with what she named her kids.

She had five kids, all normal names (at least to me)
Mike, Lisa, etc.
She divorced her husband and met a new guy that converted her to some new religion, or belief.

In the next 5 years she had 3 more kids.
1. My Queen
2. Black Son (could have been Black Sun as well, I never asked)
3. Wisdom Understanding

We all had a tough time understanding those at work

My fiancee always loved the name 'Gabriel'.

I said that I'd only allow it if the second child could be called 'Lucifer' so we could make them fight.

i was kidding of course

Seriously though '4Real'?

Those parents are in need of a good kick to the face...

There's a well known family in my town, well known for being trouble. The father for some reason named all his 4 sons Andy. I heard it was because if one died he'd have another to take his place, redneck logic. So it's like some weird white trash tradition that his decendants do the same thing. Down the street I got Randy and Andy, I went to school with another Andy. One of them named his daughter Andi. It just goes on and on.

This is in New Zealand? Vracula is that you?

The best man in my wedding's last name is "Ness" and I lobbied him to name his first son Luke so when he was a teenager he could ask girls if they wanted to see the Luke Ness Monster. He ignored my suggestion and named him Brandon.
