So, I'm making my way through Wizard World Chicago. I stumble upon some guy named Clay Moore with a table full of dolls, right? I'm like, what's all this crap you got here? What, you some type of fairy, playin' with dolls?!??
Wait, let me restart....
So, I get to Wizard World Chicago, one of my main purposes was to meet the sculpting GOD, Clayburn Moore, my favorite sculptor, bar none. I travel hundreds of miles, with one of his factory counter-samples sitting on my ...wait, sitting on my wife's lap. I had a nice box I was carrying him in, til the rat bastard flight attendant
tries to take the box and stuff it in the overhead compartment. A couple of broken bones later, and a scuffle with the Air Marshal, and he agrees to let us hold on to it, but he must discard the box...#!$**@!
So there we are, holding a statue of some caveman, and a naked chic, all the way on the flight, through the rental agency, and finally, through the hotel to our room. I can't describe some of the looks we received.
So, it's the morning of the show, we buy the early bird passes (which aren't worth it by the way, we still stood in line, just like everyone else). As we enter the doorway, I'm rifling through the program, trying to determine the layout, and the fastest way to the Moore booth. We bolt through the crowd, and quickly make our way through the huge DC comics area, and there he is, the man himself. I'm in awe, all my fanboy tendencies, straining to burst free from my feeble mental restraints. I manage to hold it together long enough to introduce myself, and my beloved wife, who's been toting said statue all the way there.
It turns out, Clay is one hell of a guy, and he signs my statue, as well as 3 or 4 other bases I brought along for the ride. As I begin perusing his wares, I spot it. Clay's latest work, Kull from Atlantis. I must say I was awe inspired by its greatness. As I stood there, maw agape, I decided then and there, that I must own this piece. Again, after a couple of broken bones and a tussle with the Wizard security, I had brokered a deal for the masterpiece.
It has taken awhile to actually receive this beautiful statue, but I must say, it was worth the wait.
I want to send a huge thanks to Clay, who without his graciousness, I would be one sad puppy....
Also a huge shout out to the painter of painters...Mr. Paul Moore!!
BEHOLD!!! KULL OF ATLANTIS!!
