I agree. Hang tight folks.
The only one I am intersted in for now is the 20 dollar deluxe 1/64. And that I may buy after the con online if the lines at the con are stupid long.
My advice is to pre-order the 1/18 from online dealers for now.

By the way, thanks for the good advice Cessna and Nelliephant!

Let's not forget who this is made by....Mattel HOT Wheels.
I have been collecting HW's for more than 20 years and they alway seem to miss alot of detail in cool cars.
Personally I'd buy one if it were made by johnny Lightning, but not for $500 clams!

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

This comic-CON version is regarded as a joke amongst the serious Batmobile fanatics anyway.Only reason it came into being was that when they pulled four moulds in fibreglass from the original Batmobile in 1966-67 to cope with demand for shows and touring one of the bodies exhibited stress-cracks.Their novel approach to mask this was to cover the entire body in a velvet-like material which became known as "Bat-fuzz".
This model is the Batmobile as it was first scanned by Mattel with all the many imperfections and scars added by Barris over the years. It s basic and its totally wrong! The roll-cage is wrong, the beacons wrong, the door-bats are wrong.Only thing thats right about it in fact is the shape!
The Elite and Elite special Editions coming this Fall,on the other hand, are a whole different story. The trunk will open on these to reveal the Bat-Computer.The hood will open and contain a miniaturized atomic turbine engine. The Elite Special Edition is aiming to replicate the beauty of the first season Batmobile too,as it appeared in 1966! Two of the worlds foremost Batmobile experts are working with Mattel to make sure it is so .These will be the models to buy-and those poor impatient souls who just had to have it now will come to regret thier impatience .
You can buy two Elite SEs for the price of one Comic-con.I know which will be far the better investment and you should too.

Thanks for the info! I collect a couple 1/18 series (Lowe's race cars and AutoArt James Bond). I'll definately be in the market for quality batmobiles. Will this be an ongoing series like the HW 1/24 I saw ay Wal-Mart, etc? Thanks again.

They have the Standard, Elite, and Super Elite versions up for preorder.
So the standard has all the outside detail minus the inside stuff?

From what I have heard, there will be 3 Barris Batmobile editions in 1/18 scale.
Standard version – which will run about $40.00
Elite version – which has about 200 parts and will have higher detail then the standard. It’ll run about $70.00-$80.00
Elite Special Edition version – which will have about 400 parts and much higher detail then the 2 above. It’ll run about $275.00-$300.00.

Found this description on line....
"Super Elite is a new category for Mattel. Featuring super details like completely wired and plumb engine compartments. Real leather seats, photo etched seat belts, glass faced gauges. These are mounted on a leather base and individually numbered. This Batmobile features a super detailed engine area including all wiring, lines, and hoses."
So hell, they got me man. They got me.
